Team Agriculture Georgia

Team Agriculture Georgia (TAG) is a coalition of USDA agencies, state departments, and community organizations working together to provide educational resources that will enhance the resilience of the state’s small farmers.

Supported by a grant from the USDA Risk Management Agency, we will host three free workshops for new and limited-resource producers across the state over the next year.

USDA Program Spotlight: Whole Farm Revenue Protection

Athens Farmers Market Stand

Whole-Farm Revenue Protection (WFRP) is the premier crop insurance for small and diversified producers. The program provides a risk management safety net for all commodities on the farm under one insurance policy, and the plan is tailored for any farm with up to $8.5 million in insured revenue. This includes farms with specialty or organic commodities (both crops and livestock), or those marketing to local, regional, farm-identity preserved, specialty, or direct markets.

According to Jeff Schahsczenski, an agricultural economist with the National Center for Appropriate Technology, “WFRP is the only crop insurance policy that protects all of the products a farmer produces, incentivizes diverse crop and livestock systems of production and is available to all sizes and types of farms.”

RMA has also produced a Whole Farm Revenue Protection fact sheet summarizing the program.
