The Georgia Association of Conservation Districts (GACD) and the Lower Chattahoochee River Soil and Water Conservation District are partnering to present a free informational workshop for local farmers to discuss how to implement conservation practices in forestry operations. 

This workshop will discuss how producers can utilize conservation practices to increase profitability and productivity of forestry operations. A local farmer will also present on his conservation efforts. In addition, information on Federal farm bill programs and state programs will be presented. Partnering agencies for this event include Georgia Forestry Commission (GFC), USDA- Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC).

The event will be held on March 30 from 9am to 12pm at the Sumter County Ag Center located at 127 William Bowen Pointe, Americus, Ga 31719. Breakfast will be served and will begin at 8:30am. This is a free event but registration is required online at www.gacd.us/events . 

The Lower Chattahoochee River Soil and Water Conservation District is a unit of state government that directs natural resource management programs in Clay, Lee, Schley, Sumter, Stewart, Randolph, Webster, and Quitman counties. The Conservation District works with farmers, landowners, and with other units of government to educate and actively promote programs and practices that support the conservation, and use and development of soil, water, and related resources.
